Telegram shows how many members of a group are online. Here is what that looks like across groups of every size.
Live from Group Wall · calculated
In the median Telegram group on Group Wall, 2.2% of members are online at the same time (5,451 groups, readings from the last 7 days).

The median share of members online at once, for groups in each member-count band. A dash means too few groups in that band to say.
Topics with enough measured groups, ordered by the median share of members online.
The Most active page lists the groups with the most members online at the moment.
Every public Telegram group shows two numbers: how many members it has and how many of them are online right now. The second number is one of the best quick signals of whether a group is actually alive. This page collects that reading across the groups listed on Group Wall.
Telegram counts a member as online when they have the app open and connected at that moment. It is a snapshot, not a daily total: someone who checks the group every evening will not be counted at noon. That is why we always show when a reading was taken, and leave out readings older than a week.
The share online is the number of members online divided by the total number of members. It lets you compare a group of two hundred with a group of two hundred thousand on equal terms.
Large groups usually have a smaller share online than small ones. Many people join a big group, read it for a while and then stop opening it, but they stay members. A small group is more likely to be made of people who are there on purpose. So a lower share in a big group is normal and does not mean the group is dead. The size chart above shows how the share changes from band to band.
Usually, but not always. Very large groups can show many members online simply because they are large. The share online, and real conversation in the chat, tell you more.
It changes with the time of day and the day of the week. Members in different countries come and go, so every reading is a snapshot of one moment.
The count is produced by Telegram, not by the group. A group can still grow its member list with inactive accounts, which is one reason the share online is worth checking.
There were not enough groups of that size with a recent reading to give a fair figure. It fills in as more groups are measured.
Every figure comes from the English-language Telegram groups listed on Group Wall and from what Telegram prints on each group's public page: its member count and the number of members online when the page was read. An online reading older than 7 days is left out. Nothing is estimated, seeded or filled in.
Medians are used rather than averages, so one huge group cannot move a figure on its own. A figure based on fewer than 20 groups is not shown. These figures describe the groups on Group Wall, not all of Telegram.
