How many groups, how big they are, and what they talk about.
Live from Group Wall · calculated
How many groups fall into each member-count band. Most communities on Telegram are small; a few are very large.
The twelve largest topics by number of groups, with the median size of a group in each.
In the median group, 2.4% of members were online when its page was last read. See how that changes with group size →
Most numbers about Telegram groups are estimates. This page is different: every figure above is counted from the English-language Telegram groups listed on Group Wall, using what Telegram itself prints on each group's public page. When a figure cannot be measured from enough groups, it is left blank instead of guessed.
Telegram groups range from a handful of friends to communities with hundreds of thousands of members. Sorting them into size bands shows how the groups on Group Wall are spread out. A long tail of small groups next to a few very large ones is normal: most communities start small, and only some grow into big public hubs.
Size is not the same as quality. A small group can be the most useful place on Telegram for a narrow topic, because members know each other and questions get real answers. A huge group can be lively, or it can be quiet with most members only reading.
The median group size is the size of the group in the middle once every group is lined up from smallest to largest. One group with a million members would drag an average far upwards, but it barely moves the median. That makes the median a fairer picture of a typical group.
The topic chart lists the subjects with the most groups and the median size of a group in each. A topic with many groups gives you more choice. A topic with a high median size tends to have bigger, more public communities. A topic with fewer, smaller groups can be a good place to start a group of your own.
From the public page Telegram shows for each group listed on Group Wall. We read the member count and the number of members online. Nothing is estimated or filled in.
No. They describe the English-language groups listed on Group Wall. Telegram does not publish figures for every group, so no site can measure all of them.
A figure based on too few groups would be misleading, so it is hidden until enough groups have been measured.
The page recalculates from the live directory every few hours, so new groups and new readings are included automatically.
Every figure comes from the English-language Telegram groups listed on Group Wall and from what Telegram prints on each group's public page: its member count and the number of members online when the page was read. An online reading older than 7 days is left out. Nothing is estimated, seeded or filled in.
Medians are used rather than averages, so one huge group cannot move a figure on its own. A figure based on fewer than 20 groups is not shown. These figures describe the groups on Group Wall, not all of Telegram.
